  • Pedigree: A second generation selection from Northern Brewer by a male seedling of English Goldings.
  • General Trade Perception: A good high alpha variety with a desirable kettle hop aroma. The predominant UK variety at present and widely used for its high alpha acids content combined with an acceptable aroma. Normally used for bittering.
  • Possible Substitutions: Fuggle, Willamette.
  • Beer Styles: Ales and Lagers
  • Maturity: Late season
  • Yield: 1,500 - 2,000 kg./ha or 1,350 - 1,800 lb./ac.
  • Growth Habit: Vigorous and high yielding.
  • Disease Reaction: Tolerant to Verticillium wilt and resistant to powdery mildew. Sensitive to downy mildew.
  • Pickability: Good.
  • Lupulin: Abundant, medium yellow in color
  • Cone Structure: Medium, plump, tight.
  • Aroma: Pleasant English hop aroma, quite intense.
