  • Pedigree: A cross between Hallertau Gold and 75/15/106M from the Hop Research Institute in Hüll, Germany to replicate a Mittelfrüh-style aroma profile with improved yield and disease resistance. It was first released in 1993. Hallertauer Tradition is a number one choice for pale and dark Munich-style lagers, Oktoberfest, Bock & Weissbier. It does very well in Kolsch and Altbier, and as a single hop or blend for classic Pilsners.
  • General Trade Perception: Aroma variety with Noble characteristics.
  • Possible Substitutions: Liberty, Hallertau Mittelfrüh.
  • Beer Styles: Bock, Wheat, Hefeweizen, Weissbier, Pilsner.
  • Maturity: Mid-season.
  • Yield: 1,800 kg./ha.
  • Growth Habit: Good to excellent.
  • Disease Reaction: Bred for resistance to Verticillium Wilt, Downy Mildew and Powdery Mildew.
  • Pickability: Good.
  • Lupulin: Moderate amount, pale yellow in colour.
  • Cone Structure: Compact, medium sized.
  • Aroma: Hallertau character of strong herbal and spice components with an underpinning of bright fruit. Complex balance of floral, earthy and new-mown hay notes.
