Pedigree: Spalter Select was bred as a cross between Spalter and Hallertauer Mittlefrüh by the Hops Research Institute in Hull, Germany. It was developed in about 1988 and was aimed to replace the Spalter variety by providing stronger growing characteristics. Spalt Select is classified as a noble variety due to its low co-humulone content.
